I still remember the overwhelming feeling of being responsible for another human being. And, I had to figure everything out without the help of the internet. I clearly recall waking up in the morning the first night that she slept through the night in a panic, asking my husband, “did you check on her?” When his answer was, “no, I thought you did”, we both rushed in to see a peaceful baby sleeping in her crib!

My doubts were confirmed when later that night when I let my precious angel sleep ( like they told me to) only to awake to a crying hungry baby in the cradle next to me as I slid her down to gently lift her out to nurse her she was wet but it was not normal? My husband turned on the light and she was covered in the foreign substance of what we assumed was malnutrition? Lack of care? Not anything we’d ever seen before almost liquid but not mustard yellow but not as we tried not to panic and tried to clean her she screamed at a record pitch. New plan wrap the precious baby in bath towel and feed her!! Then wash her.We soon learned this was the joys of motherhood feed, wash, repeat. Everything was perfectly normal.
