On Kauai: The Beach House at sunset for dinner is best. Reserve a table by a window or on the patio and take your camera

Koloa deli in Koloa town for FRESH sandwiches for a day trip to a beach.

Kauai Coffee Company – buy some beans for home (make sure they are 100% Kauai beans)

Skip the tourist gift shops and buy postcards and candy/cheap souvenirs at Walmart

Be sure to check origin of any gifts/souvenirs–many are made in places other than Kauai but labeled to look like native-made items

Always always always lock your car and do not leave valuables visible–bad people are always looking to score big from Unwitting tourists.

Visit the Kilauea Lighthouse–spectacular views

And of course Waimea Canyon

We are from a Chicago suburbs and have been visiting Kauai annually. It is very laid back and relaxing. Enjoy.

About the book is it a good read or not?
There is so much attention now on it will that in itself cause large number of sales.
I would like to see this story updated to see if large number of books are sold at these conventions.

The research for the low-carb diet is interesting. The current trend is definitely leaning on the whole low-carb thing right now, but I guess as with everything, even science must be taken with a pinch of salt. For me, it’s still a balanced diet that does best!

That article re: the NYT Best Seller for YA – it’s been happening in the music biz for years. She was formerly a music manager so I’m not surprised that she (or her team) gamed the system. As a recovering publicist, I had a couple clients who had managers who often tried this tactic at radio or would release the single that would be marketed as “Adult Hot Contemporary” rather than deal with the Hot 100. To see it in the book world made me cringe – oy vey. So glad you highlighted this article Andie!
