Turns out there IS something more exciting than eating food yourself: seeing your baby<\/em> eat food, for the very first time. Yep, this week we started giving James solid food and as proof that he’s mine, he loved it<\/strong>. We steamed broccoli, roasted sweet potato, sliced avocado, and he seemed to enjoy the broccoli the most, which I suspect has to do with the texture of the little trees and the fact that he\u2019s teething (he got his first little tooth!). Daniel and I had to restrain ourselves from shouting \u201cHOORAY!\u201d and clapping the whole way through, which was hard but it\u2019s just so much fun to see him trying all these new tastes and textures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m still baking up a storm (I’ll share the recipe for those raspberry muffins pictured above soon!), still crying over the happy, sappy moments on Great British Baking Show (only now I’ve got Daniel to do it with me), and rooting pretty exclusively for the older folks (is that ageist of me?). I can\u2019t wait for the day when James can bake with me but for now, I’ve got him sitting with me in the kitchen, in his high chair or Ingenuity seat<\/a>, waving a spatula in the air like a magic wand.

I read Reddit every night in bed, and I particularly love AskReddit, the forum where someone poses a question, any question, and thousands answer. It can be thoughtful, illuminating, funny, sad, creepy, helpful\u2026but almost always interesting and thought-provoking. Examples of questions asked include:
“If humans suddenly didn’t ever have to sleep any more, and you now have an extra 8 hours every day, what would you do with that time?”
“Cancer survivors of reddit, what was the moment you realised that something was wrong and decided to have a checkup?”
“What’s a book that you think everyone needs to read?”<\/em>

Rob Delaney Still Wants to Make You Laugh<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he talks about Henry, Delaney picks at his fingernails and speaks gently and deliberately. \u201cIf you observe me through a telephoto lens or something, you might not know that I\u2019m grieving all the time,\u201d he tells me.
\u201cI\u2019ll have a memory and start to cry sometimes. Or I\u2019ll look at my watch and notice it\u2019s coming around the time when I would have changed his tracheotomy dressing for the day, and I\u2019ll be sad I\u2019m not doing that.

If you\u2019re a fan of Christopher Guest movies, you know just how perfect Eugene Levy and Catherine O\u2019Hara are as a pair. You might *not* know, however, how wonderful and funny Eugene Levy\u2019s son is, Daniel, who created Schitt\u2019s Creek with his dad. All three star in Schitt\u2019s Creek, a comedy about a wealthy family who lose their fortune after being defrauded by their business manager and are forced to rebuild their lives with their sole remaining asset: a small town named Schitt’s Creek (which they had bought their son as a joke birthday gift years earlier).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
