Every few months I get overcome with the desire to organize everything we own. I rearrange all of our furniture. I move art from room to room until I can say, \u201coh this makes more sense.\u201d I paint a room, a cabinet\u2026I spray paint whatever I can. Within the last month, I’ve redone our downstairs bathroom, painted my office, and painted my brick fireplace white (photo above). Thankfully,<\/em> all of these little projects I embark on end up improving our home, but the real upside of doing them isn\u2019t so much about the upgrades as it is the joy of doing them (cheesy but true). You know when people describe being in zen-like \u201cflow states\u201d when they’re doing something they love? That\u2019s exactly how I feel when I\u2019m deep cleaning or organizing or painting. I think back on all the times I rearranged and organized my best friend\u2019s bedroom when we were teenagers. Maybe I missed my calling, or maybe (more likely) I\u2019d hate the projects if they were a job instead of a hobby. Where do you fall on the spectrum of hate it\/neutral about it\/love it when it comes to cleaning, organizing, and updating?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Best Time of Year to Buy Everything<\/strong><\/a>
If you\u2019re like me, when you go to make a large purchase\u2014an appliance, a piece of furniture, etc.\u2014you faintly remember reading a list somewhere about the best times of year to buy each category of item: cars, electronics, appliances, clothes, and on an on. Here is that list! Bookmark it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Watch the Best Episodes of a TV Series<\/strong><\/a>
You know all those TV shows you have on your list to someday watch? Well there\u2019s a site that can help. On ShowSkimmer you can search for a series and it will list the best episodes, in chronological order (there could be 5 episodes, there could be 50). According to Lifehacker, \u201cIt\u2019s a great way to watch a series while skipping all the forgettable episodes\u2014which is especially good for long-running sitcoms with light plots and a lot of time to fill.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIND<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Pint-size paint samples (~$7.99)
This is nothing new or particularly revolutionary, but let\u2019s say you want to paint a piece of furniture or you want to touch up the paint on your walls. Buying a full gallon, or even a half gallon, would be overkill\u2014not to mention expensive. Enter: paint samples. They\u2019re 16 ounces (1 pint), sold my a number of top brands, and available in thousands of colors. I recently picked up 3 Benjamin Moore paint samples at my local hardware store and used \u201cHale Navy\u201d to paint the wooden vanity in our downstairs bathroom. The one caveat is that the samples only come in eggshell<\/em> finish, so if you\u2019re hoping for a semi-gloss sheen, which is preferable for furniture and cabinets, you\u2019re out of luck. That said, the vanity I painted looks great with more of a satiny finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
